About the position

With our 130 years of experience along the Norwegian coast, we have connected coastal communities and given our guests an authentic experience whether they sail short or far, from port to port or full round trip. At the same time, we have transported important cargo between ports. Our original coastal voyage is known worldwide as "the world's most beautiful coastal voyage", combining beautiful scenery and authentic culture with delicious food experiences. In addition, we have our beautiful ship, MS Trollfjord, which sails to Svalbard in the summer and North Cape in the winter.

Now, Hurtigruten Norway are ready to increase the number of commercial ships on this iconic voyage. MS Otto Sverdrup sails from Hamburg to Norwegian destinations with primarily German guests, where we want new colleagues who can communicate in German.

We are now looking for people for all our ships where we want you who are passionate about service and love to offer good guest experiences. Do you want to join the journey and show our guests our home?

We are looking for skilled waiters for permanent positions.

Qualifications/Experience

• Have 2 years of documented work experience as a waitress with good references

• Have previously worked with wine/beer/spirits, and have basic knowledge of this

• Have a high level of service and a strong guest focus so that guests meet their expectations

• Can present, recommend and serve food and drink in a professionally correct manner

• Get to know the concept and make sure that storytelling about the products is a continuous feature when serving

• Flexible – if needed, you must also be able to contribute with other tasks within the hotel

Hurtigruten set high demands for safety on board, which means that all employees must have; Basic safety course for seafarers, Crowd and Crises course, and approved health certificate from authorized seafarer doctor. There is no requirement to have completed the courses before applying, but you must be willing to take them, and please note that the individual must pay for the courses themselves.

Duties and responsibilities

• Create great guest experiences through outstanding service

• Tell the story of the Norwegian coast, local communities, food and drink and about Hurtigruten as a destination

• Sales within your restaurant and be a driving force for additional sales of all offers on board

• Perform assigned tasks in accordance with standard operating procedures for hotel operations on board and the ship's operations and safety management systems

Desirable

• Good knowledge of German and English, advantage of Scandinavian language

• Has a certificate of apprenticeship as a waitress

• Have other relevant courses and education in the field of food and beverage

• Outstanding in sales and service

• Being extrovert and like to share a good story

• Thrive in a varied and hectic working day

• High focus on safety

• Comfortable living close to guests and colleagues
